MEMPHIS JEWISH HIGH SCHOOL HIRES CHEMISTRY TEACHER FOR ’07-’08 SCHOOL YEAR

Ms. Sonya Fleck to Teach Chemistry                 


    Memphis, TN (12/28/06) – Ms. Adrian Weissman, head of school for Memphis Jewish High School, is thrilled to welcome Ms. Sonya Fleck as the school’s master teacher of chemistry.  “We are most fortunate to find a teacher of Ms. Fleck’s caliber to teach chemistry for the 2007-2008 school year at MJHS.  Just as our biology lab was created to be state-of-the-art, Ms. Fleck will be assisting in the design of our chemistry lab which will, likewise, be a state-of-the-art environment.” said Weissman.                 
    Ms. Fleck received a bachelor of science and a bachelor of arts from Christian Brothers University in Memphis.  She received her masters of education from CBU in 1999.  Having taught chemistry at several prestigious local schools, Ms. Fleck brings to Memphis Jewish High School a wealth of experience.  Her career began at St. Benedict at Auburndale School where she was a chemistry teacher and served as the department of science chairperson.  In addition, she was instrumental in setting up the school’s chemistry laboratory.  Ms. Fleck taught chemistry at all levels at St. Mary’s Episcopal School for two years including advanced placement, honors and general chemistry courses.  She also has taught chemistry at Christian Brothers High School and has conducted teacher training workshops, as well as tutored privately.  Fleck is a member of the National Science Teachers’ Association.
