Memphis, TN (9/6/06) – In an effort to provide “an up-close and personal, hands-on look at our new school,” Adrian Weissman, head of school at Memphis Jewish High School, announced an Open House for the public.  The community will have an opportunity to see the school’s facilities which will include classrooms, labs, art room, and Beit Midrash.   The Open House will be held Sunday, September 17 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.   MJHS is located at 1203 Ridgeway Road, PARK PLACE CENTRE, Suite 203 (2nd level entrance is next to Gould’s Day Spa).

Weissman continued, “There will be personalized tours given by students, faculty and administration to allow people to experience our unique way of learning which incorporates the fascinating Harkness Method.  Visitors will be able to speak to our General Studies staff on an individual basis, as well as our Jewish Studies staff.”

“We have prided ourselves on offering the finest General Studies and Jewish Studies education in the region, coupled with a commitment to technology and its role in our children’s everyday life,” said Weissman.  “Our school environment is a wireless broadband internet environment which allows us to have distance learning and web conferencing virtually at the click of a mouse.”  Rabbi Shlomo Riskin will be speaking live during the Open House in order to demonstrate this very powerful learning tool.  Rabbi Riskin is the founder of a network of high schools, colleges, graduate programs, seminaries and rabbinical schools under the name Ohr Torah Stone Institutions with a total student enrollment numbering in the thousands.

"We wanted this opportunity for the community to experience MJHS, the ‘newest school on the block.’  We are excited to showcase our facility, staff and students in a proper way.  The founders, Marilyn and Jack Belz, Jan and Andy Groveman, and Sally and Mark Wender, would like for the Jewish community to be able to see exactly what our school is all about.” said Weissman.   Refreshments will be served during the event.
