Award-winning Biology Teacher Joins Memphis Jewish High School
Dr. Meera Krishnan to Teach Biology
MEMPHIS, TN (4/15/06) -- Andy Groveman, president of Memphis Jewish High School, along with its founders are thrilled to welcome Dr. Meera Krishnan, winner of numerous teaching awards, as the school’s master teacher of biology. Among Dr. Krishnan’s many accolades are the 2004 Rotary Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 2004 NAACP Award for Dedicated Services to Students and Science.
For the past six years, Dr. Krishnan has taught Honors & AP Biology in grades 9-12 at Ridgeway High School. A graduate of the University of Memphis with a dual major in Microbiology and Medical Technology, Dr. Krishnan received her Doctorate from the University of Tennessee in Immunology in 1995. In 2002 she received her Masters in Computer Science (Bioinfromatics). Widely published in the fields of Immunology and Computer Science, she is also an expert in Educational Technology software.
Groveman said, “Dr. Krishnan is one of the most inspiring science teachers in Memphis. We are so pleased to have her join the staff of Memphis Jewish High School. She is held in the highest esteem by students, their parents and her peers alike, and her dedication and love for teaching is unparalleled.”
