On behalf of the administration and staff I am pleased to welcome all of our new students, returning students, and families to the 2007-2008 school year. I would like to wish each of you a successful year. I hope your experience at the Memphis Jewish High School will be both rewarding and enjoyable. This is the first year we will have both a sophomore and freshman class.
We have been working diligently on the accreditation process. Every effort is being made to finish the SACS/CASI accreditation process this year. This will require the participation and efforts of all our students and MJHS families. The success your child enjoys is related to the dedication and hard work of the parents and our teachers. You are your child’s most important role model. A key to success in high school is certainly related to the effort one expends and perhaps, equally is asking for help when one needs it. Help is around the corner and it is no further away than an e-mail or phone call. Please know that our staff wants our students to be successful. It is up to the students and families to seek assistance when needed which will help to assure success.
The MJHS staff is committed to deliver quality and excellence in education. Our excellent staff is determined to make this happen. By all of us working together, this common goal will occur. We welcome your involvement in every aspect of your child’s high school education. Talk with your child about school -- how their classes are going, social issues and the day in general. We encourage you to provide
a quiet area for your child in which to study and do homework. If you have any questions or concerns, you are encouraged to contact the appropriate teacher, guidance counselor, administrator or me, directly. Our door is always open. We also invite you to participate on any of the school committees that are organized to improve our school environment.
Our state of the art chemistry lab is completed and ready to use. I encourage everyone to come by and take a peek. A new Harkness classroom has been equipped with latest technology equipment and a beautiful new table. Our students will be attending a distance-learning course on Modern Israel during the 2007-2008 school year. The topics covered will appeal to our teenage student body.
We have made the necessary plans to attend next school year's Model UN, in New York. To prepare, we are planning to participate this school year in a web-based Model UN. This is a great opportunity for our students. We will be attending the State math competition in the spring. It should be fun as we prepare for the event. These are just a few activities that our students will be involved with in the upcoming year. Stayed tuned for more exciting events
