MJHS Receives Recommendation for Accreditation

MEMPHIS JEWISH HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVES UNANIMOUS
RECOMMENDATION FOR FULL ACCREDITATION STATUS
Memphis, TN (1/24/08) -- An AdvancED [formerly SACS-CASI] Quality Assurance Review Team recently spent two days on a site visit to Memphis Jewish High School and unanimously recommended full accreditation status for the school. Due to a recent unification, AdvancED is now the accrediting organization for schools and colleges across much of the United States and Latin America. To be accredited, schools must meet high standards, engage in continuous improvement, and demonstrate quality assurance through external review. The standards require that the school has a clear vision and purpose; effective and responsive leadership; a rigorous curriculum taught through sound, research-based methods; collects, reports, and uses performance results; provides adequate resources and support for its educational programs; and values and communicates with its stakeholders.
“This is a significant milestone in our school’s history in obtaining this unanimous recommendation for accreditation,” said Adrian Weissman, head of school. “The founders and board of directors wanted to be sure that the Memphis Jewish High School obtained accreditation at the earliest possible time. We knew that the faculty, administration, students and their parents would allow us to achieve this milestone in record time. It is unusual for a school to be able to achieve accreditation in such a short period."
Andy Groveman, president of MJHS, said, “There can be no clearer signal to prospective parents and students as to the quality of our educational environment at MJHS. Obtaining this accreditation has taken a huge collaborative effort on everyone’s part at the school and we are justifiably proud.”
