Memphis, TN (9/12/2008) -- Students from the Memphis Jewish High School, under the leadership and direction of Ms. Carol DeForest, one of Memphis’ premier artists who teaches at MJHS, recently participated in a city-wide art project sponsored by the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.
As part of its commitment to teaching its students about “giving back to the community,” the Memphis Jewish High School under the sponsorship of Midsouth Jets, put together a project titled “Captain Snoopy-Do, the Aviator.” A decorated and themed dog (pictured below), “Captain Snoopy-Do” was displayed along with many other themed dogs at Oak Court Mall. MJHS students also received additional help in the construction of Snoopy’s wings by sculptor Tyler French.
Sponsors purchased the dogs and had artists decorate them. On November 8th all dogs will be auctioned off and proceeds will benefit the Human Society of Memphis and Shelby County.
